Bread for the seagulls

It just so happened that we had some leftover homemade bread lying around the kitchen.
So the girls and I decided to feed it to the birds.  Literally.
We walked to the pier and took turns tossing pieces out to the seagulls.  And Faith yelled, "Burd!  Burd!"  (bird!  bird!) over and over as they swooped down to eat.  Both of my girls have always loved birds and get very excited whenever they see one.
And the seagulls swarmed around us trying to catch every tiny morsel.
Grace especially enjoyed tossing it out while Chloe tried to sneak in a few bites.
And after Faith realized what it was we were feeding those birds, she started sneaking big bites, too.
We stayed out there even after all the bread was gone just enjoying a lovely day outside with each other.  Sometimes the simplest things in life can bring the greatest pleasure.

Faith pulled a chair over and scared me to death

It's not unusual for Faith to climb on a chair like this for a snack.
Today, however, she managed to pull that chair on top of her.
And immediately I noticed a large bruised knot on the side of her foot where the chair landed.
It's hard to tell from this picture but that bruise and knot really scared me.  I thought it was broken.
So I took her to the Urgent Care and had it xrayed.  Fortunately, it was just a bruise.  I did learn something helpful, though.  Apparently, children are smarter than adults and won't walk on a broken foot or leg.  That's a tidbit of information that make be useful in the future.  Hopefully, my kids won't scare me like this again.

A Valentine's present for the birdies

Today we made an early Valentine's present for the little birds in our neighborhood.
We began by cutting hearts out of old cereal boxes.
Then we punched a hole in the top and ran some string through.
Faith watched patiently while Grace worked away.
After that, we spread peanut butter on both sides.  And sampled the peanut butter, too.
Next, we smushed birdseed onto the peanut butter covered hearts.
And voila!  Homemade bird feeders!
The girls loved making them.
And we hung them on our lemon tree with the opes that the little birdies will enjoy them.

Fairhope children's consignment sale

The timing of finding out we are expecting a little boy this May couldn't have been better.  Just a few days after we discovered we were having a boy, Fairhope had their semi-annual children't consignment sale and I really racked up.
These are just a few of my favorites for our little boy.
And of course I bought both the girls stuff, too.  Here are Faith's clothes.
And these are Grace's.  One thing I've really noticed about these consignment sales is that a ton of stuff can be found for kids in sizes 3T and under, but once you get bigger than that the pickings becomes quite slim.  I guess soon I'll start having to buy Grace brand new stuff.  Regardless though we are set for this summer I think.  Especially since I went back on 1/2 price day and bought a whole lot more...+

4 year olds like to play in boxes, too

After our family photo shoot the other day, Grace wanted to stay outside and play in the box.
 So we let her.
She might be a bit big for that particular box though.
And she pouted for a bit after I told her we had to throw the box away.  If it was up to Grace, we'd play in boxes every day.

Decorating for Valentine's Day

Grace is really ready for Valentine's Day.  Every day she asks if today is the day. So we decided to decorate today.  We decorated by hanging foam hearts that we found at a thrift store last year.
We hung them from the chandelier and ceiling fans.
And on the doorway to the playroom/guest bedroom.
And from all the doorway to the girls' bedroom, too.
Our home is quite festive and ready for Valentine's Day now.

We're ready for Spring

The weather has been so gorgeous lately.
And Grace said she really needed some pretty flowers.  So we made a trip to Home Depot and she picked "the hot pink ones" and Faith selected some purple flowers.  Then we came home and planted them in our pot.
So far Grace is taking her gardening responsibilities quite seriously.
She must get her green thumb from her granddaddy because all of her Momma's flowers turn brown.
