Once again we decided to go to the pier.
And once again, Grace was the leader.
The water level was really high.
It was sunny and slightly overcast.
But bright enough for sunscreen. Don't you just love Faith's hair do with all that sunscreen on her sparsely covered head?
Then David caught these in the cast net. At first I thought it was a swordfish, but upon closer inspection I think it might be a longnose gar. Or something. It's got a lot teeth and a long nose...
Whatever it is, one of those in the net flopped right onto the ground and we let him go.
But the other had a full bite of the net in its mouth and it wasn't letting go. Much to his demise.
So David cut his head off thinking he'd release his bite. But that fish's gills kept right on flapping for another minute or so and still wouldn't let loose. Eventually his head slung off the net after David cast it a few more times. Grace was so funny after David tossed it the first time. As he was pulling it back in, Grace yelled out, "Hey everybody! We got a fish head! Look! We caught a fish head!"
After that, David sliced up the rest of the fish to use as bait.
Then Grace exclaimed, "Pee-YOU! That's a stinky fish!"
But we caught a little croaker with our improvised bait. And like most croakers, it "croaked" at us and Grace announced, "That fish just burped at me!"
Then the sun started to set.
And sun rays streamed out as the sun slipped behind a cloud.
What a wonderful and exciting day.
