Caught with my pants down.

I was in the our bathroom today when the phone rang.  Before I could get to it I hear Grace say, "Hello!"  So I hurry to wash my hands hoping that Grace hasn't actually answered the phone.  (I've been waiting for an Elder from our church to call and let me know when we're having dinner together.)  But Grace has answered the phone and as she sees me coming for her, she takes off running down the hallway all the while continuing her conversation by saying, "Well.  My mom.  She's going potty.  You there?  Yeah!  My mom's going potty right now.  She's potty trained!"  All I could do was hope that it was someone I knew and not the Elder from the church...

Fortunately, it was just my mom.

We live far, far away

After we finally arrived home today Grace looked at me very solemnly and said:

"Momma, I think we live Far, Far Away."

We do indeed live far, far away from our family in Charlotte...

That sun is peeking at me!

Grace has an interesting way of bringing my attention to something.  She holds her hand close to her body and points in the general direction of something with her pointer finger.  The she tilts her head back to better direct me more specifically with her eyes.  It's quite comical actually and utterly unique to Grace.
"Look, Momma!  That sun is peeking at me!"
 Why yes, it certainly is.
It was peeking at us from behind those clouds.  And it was so kind of Grace to point that out to me.

It's a longnose gar! I think...

Once again we decided to go to the pier.
And once again, Grace was the leader.
The water level was really high.
It was sunny and slightly overcast.
But bright enough for sunscreen.  Don't you just love Faith's hair do with all that sunscreen on her sparsely covered head?
Then David caught these in the cast net.  At first I thought it was a swordfish, but upon closer inspection I think it might be a longnose gar.  Or something.  It's got a lot teeth and a long nose...
Whatever it is, one of those in the net flopped right onto the ground and we let him go.
But the other had a full bite of the net in its mouth and it wasn't letting go.  Much to his demise.
So David cut his head off thinking he'd release his bite.  But that fish's gills kept right on flapping for another minute or so and still wouldn't let loose.  Eventually his head slung off the net after David cast it a few more times.  Grace was so funny after David tossed it the first time.  As he was pulling it back in, Grace yelled out, "Hey everybody!  We got a fish head!  Look!  We caught a fish head!"
After that, David sliced up the rest of the fish to use as bait.
Then Grace exclaimed, "Pee-YOU!  That's a stinky fish!"
But we caught a little croaker with our improvised bait.   And like most croakers, it "croaked" at us and Grace announced, "That fish just burped at me!"
Then the sun started to set.
And sun rays streamed out as the sun slipped behind a cloud.
What a wonderful and exciting day.

Grace's uncontrollable diarrhea

David and I were on the couch when Grace came rushing in the family room bare bottomed and announced that she needed to wear a diaper.  And she handed us one.  Now this is highly unusual.  Grace hasn't worn diapers in months.

So, I asked Grace if she had an accident thinking she may have tee-teed in her pants.  Grace simply looked back at me and restated that she needed a diaper.  Now.  So I held her hand and walked to her room first and then the bathroom.  There I found Grace's underpants lying in a puddle of poop along with an entire roll of toilet paper in the trash can.  Apparently Grace had tried to clean her mess up only somewhat successfully.

Grace finally looked up at me and simply said, "My poopoos just melted out of my hiney."  I can't think of a more apt description...
