Sticker Face

Our cabinets have these little brown stickers to keep them from slamming shut.
But Grace found another use for them.
She put them on her face, of course.
And now she really has freckles.

When you give a kid a camera

You just never know what kind of pictures you will get.
A view of toys from the sofa.
Maybe a picture of a painting already on the wall.
Streamers.
Perhaps the carpet.
Our ceilings look really high from her viewpoint.  And somehow we ended up with footprints on the ceiling.  I'm not sure I want to know how those got there...
I can't believe how long our stairwell looks!
A picture of the most important people in her life.
And that includes Chloe.
A closeup of Chloe's nose.  Everyone wants to see that, y'know.
Seeing the world from Grace's eyes is so enlightening and wondrous.  It makes me want to be 3 again.

Meet Sue Ellen

We went swimming today.  And while dropping our floats in the garage we noticed someone sitting on the step waiting for the elevator.  It was a speckled little frog!  Grace named her Sue Ellen.
Meet Sue Ellen.  Hi, Sue Ellen!  Grace insisted we take Sue Ellen back to her family.   So I picked Sue Ellen up and carried her back to the pond.
And lo and behold, Sue Ellen certainly did have family waiting there for her.
Dozens of teeny tiny little frogs were hopping all over the place.  We named this one Charlie Sue.  Hi, Charlie Sue.  We're so happy Sue Ellen made it back home safe and sound.

It's windy outside

We went to the pier with the intentions of fishing.
And enjoying the sunset, of course.
We were surprised by how windy it was.
Too windy to fish.
So windy that it blew everyone's hair straight back.
Grace told me that the wind was going to blow her Faithy away.  And it might have if she hadn't been strapped in.
Soon the sun disappeared behind the horizon and we went home a little windblown but relaxed nonetheless.

Hot Air Balloon Festival

We drove over to the Hot Air Balloon Festival today.
And snagged a sweet parking spot right by all the activities!
First we walked through the booths.
It's always interesting checking out the wares for sale.
Faith had the best view from up high, but she was mostly interested in her Daddy's sunglasses.
Until she got to drive a John Deere.  It was her first tractor ride.
Well, she pretended to drive.
Then Grace clambered up to join in the fun.
And insisted Daddy and Faith get down so she could go!
She tried her best to put that John Deere in gear.
And tried again on the next tractor, too.
And while it didn't go anywhere she sure had fun pretending!
After that, we stumbled up a corn shucker.  This reminds me of our years in Nebraska.  Don't ask me why because we never used a corn shucker there.  But it was the corn husker state!
Grace used her muscles.
And shucked all the corn off her cob!
We walked around some more and saw a fairy.
Then I rode on the tilt-a-whirl ride with Grace.
Wheeeee!
Grace really enjoyed that.  And so did I.
Then we saw a balloon come in for a landing.
And others started to fire up their engines.
There were balloons everywhere.
We found a sweet spot right by one.
And camped out there for a bit.  When those pilots light up the balloons it is LOUD.  Thus Grace covering her ears...
They let Grace climb into the basket.
Not only was it loud, but it was HOT.  Sweltering hot.  I couldn't be a hot air balloon driver.
But they are beautiful to watch as they flare up in the night sky.
And fun to watch as they dance and light up to the music.

Pirates and Princesses

We went to Chick-fil-a today.
 And let the girls play.
Faith was so determined to follow Grace.
I can't believe she isn't afraid to climb like that!
After a while the Chick-fil-a princess came by.
And so did a pirate!  It's Family Night at Chick-fil-a.
So the girls got free food and their faces painted!
Faith is a kitty cat.  Meow!
Grace has a butterfly on her face.
Then Grace took her picture with Tinkerbell.
And said, "Faith this is so much fun!!"  And it was.  We had a great time and look forward to next time!
