A day at the beach

It has been so spectacularly beautiful outside that we just couldn't resist a trip to one of our favorite places.
The beach!
Faith is finally getting to the point where she enjoys our visits there.
She especially loves having her Daddy toss her in the air.
However, she doesn't like me tossing her around for some reason.
So I just snuggle with her.
The girls had a fabulous time searching for sea shells.
Then Faith laid down in the sand.
And made sand angels.
That's a Southerner's version of a snow angel since we don't get snow here very often.
After a while we built a sand castle.  Really it's more a sand mountain.  Or maybe a volcano.
And then the girls spied the birds.
And they were off!
My girls are persistent if nothing else.
Every time we come to the beach, Grace and Faith chase those poor birds all over the place determined to catch one.  It's probably my fault.  Grace has been wanting a pet bird for as long as I remember.  And I told her that if she could catch a bird, we'd give it a home...
Fortunately for me, they didn't catch one.  Yet.  We really enjoyed an exceptionally warm winter day today.  And hopefully we can do this all again sometime soon.

Give a kid a camera

Grace has had quite a time with her camera.  She takes pictures of the most random things.
Like her feet.
Boxes ready to go to the recycling dumpster.
The window in our front door.
Our wedding pictures.
The inside of her stocking.  I think she was investigating to see if Santa made another surprise stop.
Her big toe.
Her little sister Faith.
Many a self portrait.  This is her happy face.
This is her mean girl face.
Grace made pictures of our ceiling.  They look so high from her viewpoint.
More pictures of Faith.
Closeups of Faith's nose.
Then pictures of her toes.
And finally such a closeup shot of Grace's own nostril that everything just turned out red.  I'm not sure who is going to enjoy the new camera more - me or Grace.  She likes taking the photos and I like seeing the world through her eyes.

Christmas 2011

And finally it was time to celebrate Christmas with just us.
Grace and Faith woke up bright and early.
And started opening presents.
Faith really liked her new chair.
And Grace has been wanting an umbrella for quite some time.
But Grace was super excited about her big present.
And she started snapping pictures right away.
Faith got a big present, too.  This is her touchpad-music-playing-microphone-thingamajig-toy.  It's very cool.
It took a while for Faith to figure it out, but she really loves her new toy.
And we didn't forget Chloe, either.  That's the biggest bone she's ever seen and she gnawed on it for hours.  It will take her weeks to finish it off.
Then I suprised David with the new T-fal ActiFryer.  It's actually more for me, though.  I crave french fries all the time.  And this cooks 2 pounds with only 1 tablespoon of oil.  And they actually taste deep fried.  Yum yum!
I took a nap after all the excitement.  I stayed tired a lot now.  When I woke up David and the girls surprised me with a decadent chocolate brownie cake for my birthday.  How sweet.  They fill my heart until it's overflowing.  How did I ever become so fortunate?

Christmas with the Lindseys

Today we exchanged gifts and celebrated Christmas with my family.
And there was a ton of presents to open.
The girls were excited about their presents.
And the newest addition to the family.  A furry member.
It didn't take long to wear them out.
But sugar never fails to revive them.

Pony rides and petting zoo

After our hot chocolate and cookies, we let the girls ride a pony.
This was Faith's first time to ride a pony all by herself.
She tolerated it.
Grace, however, relished her pony ride.
I thought we were going to have a hard time getting her off her horse.
But then we walked over to the petting zoo.
How cute is this little pig snuggled up with the bunny rabbits?
Grace fed the goats.
And so did Faith.
Grace was quite selective in her feeding process.  She only wanted to feed the gray goat.
Faith fed them all.
After all that food those goats shouldn't have to eat for a week!
Then we stopped by to pet the chickens.
And finally headed home.  What another great day.
