Any idea what this interesting little thing is? I'm still trying to decide...I do know that Grace found it somewhere inside the house today and stuck it up her nose. Yes, she put it Up Her NOSE.
.
And it stayed there. And caused her nose to bleed. And opened the snot faucet. Her nose was blowing really big bubbles, that is, when it wasn't whistling "zipitty-doo-dah."
.
I tried to hold her down and pull it out with the tweezers, but Grace is a determined little girl. She wasn't having any of that. So I called her pediatrician. Too bad he wasn't in the office today. I thought about waiting until he came back next week, but I knew I couldn't take the nose whistling. So we went to the Ear Nose and Throat specialist next door.
.
As soon as we walked in the door, Grace started crying. Not the loud, screaming, kicking her feet, temper tantrum crying. It was the tears rolling down her face while not making any noise crying and giving Mommy the Please-don't-leave-me-I'm-really-scared-out-of-my-mind look. Nearly broke my heart, but two hours of nose whistling ensured that we'd go through the procedure.
.
So the Dr. pulled out a vacuum and tried to suck it out, but that just pumped up the volume. "Zipitty aye." Finally she pulled out tweezers that had to be at least 15 inches long. But it did the trick. Of course, she had me and a nurse help her by holding Grace down.
.
But Grace did very well. She didn't move at all once she saw those tweezers coming at her. Can't blame her there, they were so long it could go all the way up and pull a brain out through either the left or right nostril.
.
Seriously, she was such a brave little girl and she learned a valuable life lesson. Now she "nose" she shouldn't put anything up her nose...
...except for maybe a finger.
.
"My, oh my, what a wonderful day."
