Mammee and Pappy's visit: Day 5

Today I had a "meet and greet" (informal meeting) with a lady regarding a potential job opportunity. It worked out well that Mammee and Pappy were in town to watch Grace. David and I carpooled to Mobile at 7:30 this morning and then I dropped him off at work. I hung out at Panera and borrowed their internet until my meeting at 10:30 at Starbucks. The meeting didn't last long - only about half an hour. Then I picked David up (he only work half a day) and we went home.

.

The meet and greet was very informative. Hopefully something will work out, but the lady specifically told me (three times) that her department wasn't hiring until 2010. She did say she would meet with some people in other departments to see if there are any opportunities there, but she doubts anything will open up in the near future. In the meantime, we'll just keep praying that the right opportunity will come along at the right time for us.When we got home, we cooked the shrimp David and I caught on our date last night.
It was the first time we cooked shrimp in our new home. Grace kept looking at the shrimp and poking them and asking "sh-imp?" She couldn't figure out why they weren't hopping all over the place like they do on the pier. So David made one "jump" at her. She giggled and squirmed away. We allowed her to play with her food for a few minutes while we fixed everyone's drinks. Then it was time to eat.
Those "sh-impies" were Mmm...mmm...goood.After lunch we decided to drive over to Foley and Gulf Shores for the rest of the day.We walked around the Tanger Outlets for quite a while. There are so many stores there, you can't possibly go in them all in one day. There is even a play area just for kids. Brilliant idea.We quickly worked up an appetite doing all that walking, so of course, we had to eat at Lamberts.Grace and Pappy went for a train ride.
Someone left his wallet on top of the train. There wasn't an ID in there, just about $35 cash. I thought it might have been one of the kids that was playing nearby and asked if they left one. One of the boys said it was his friends, but then I overheard the kids talking about how they "stole" it and it wasn't their's. So, of course, I confront the kids and they say it really is theirs. I saw the kids mom and asked her if any of the kids had a wallet and explain what I overheard and all she had to say was "If he said it was his, then it's his" and walked off. Unbelievable.

Anyway, Lambert's is known for their "throwed rolls." They really throw rolls at you so you have to be ready to catch them!

Arms up!

Each of us catch several rolls - including Grace.

There was SO much food!

It's more than you can possibly eat.

Our waiter was kind enough to take a picture of all of us.

These four to-go boxes were really loaded down. We ate off of them for another 2 days.

Mammee got a souvenir mug to take back.

After our fabulous meal, we headed to the beach.

The waves were incredible - reg flags were out.

It was a beautiful day.

Grace was very excited to play in the sand with her "shub-all."

Shells were everywhere.

Grace buried Pappy's feet in the sand.

Then she'd throw some sand in the water.

And run in the water and splash around. Only ankle deep water.

Then we practiced writing her name in the sand.

And she'd pick up her name and throw it back into the water.

Her little handprints from where she threw her name back.

David and his mom spending some quality time together.

Mammee, Pappy, and David all took a break.

Grace and I walked on the beach.

A quick picture with the sunset.

And then we headed home. It was another day full of activities and making memories.
