Mammee and Pappy's visit: Day 7

Mammee, Grace and I went back to the garage sale this morning. David had the day off, so he slept in. So did Pappy. While we were at the garage sale, David and Pappy came up with the idea to go to New Orleans for a day. So we decided that first thing in the morning we'd get up and head over to see the French Quarter and eat beignets and drink coffee.
.
After we left the garage sale, we went to Publix and picked up a Key Lime pie for Pappy and Mango Key Lime pie for everyone else. That Mango pie was so succulent and delicious. It didn't last for long.
Then we went to Felix's Fish Camp to eat. The seafood there is so yummy.Everyone got the catch of the day. After lunch we headed home to spend more family time together. We went to the pier and Mammee threw the cast net some more. She's become a fabulous fisher-woman.In fact, she caught a huge blue crab with the cast net. We decided to keep him so we put him in Grace's rock box. Mammee and I had to fill our pockets up with Grace's rocks so we could use her box. Good thing the box had a lid that we could snap shut because this little fella didn't like the box at all. He kept jumping and hitting the top with his pinchers. He definitely would have gotten away if we didn't lock him inside. That crab sure was a fighter. When we got home, we put him in the colander to rinse him off before cooking him.He didn't like the cold water so he jumped out of the colander and almost went down the disposal. Good thing we caught him. David liked antagonizing the poor thing and almost lost a finger. Mom also caught some shrimp. A lot of shrimp I should say. We estimated it was about 3 pounds or so. So many shrimp that they wouldn't all fit in the colander. So we washed them off, sorted them by "coconut size" and "regular size," and stuck them in freezer bags and froze them for later.
.
Then we cooked our crab and the shrimp Mammee had caught the previous day. This is our finished meal. MMMMMmmmm...so good. I really felt bad for the crab though. I didn't know he had to be alive when you throw him in the boiling hot water until it was time to cook him. He really fought for his life and I still feel kinda guilty. He was the first crab I ever cooked. I especially felt bad when his little legs popped off as soon as they hit the water. Even so, he sure did taste good.
